About This Project

This large mosaic depicting a Portuguese explorer ship cruising off the coast of Africa was commissioned as an Art for Public Spaces piece for the exterior of the renovated Mozambique restaurant in Laguna Beach, California. Discovery was the first mosaic by the artist to be created entirely of stained glass and in the direct (face up) method, resulting in a depth and illusion of transparency beyond what was previously possible.
